HealthConnect.Link Adds Trio of Directors to Its Board in 2016
HealthConnect.Link is proud to introduce the three most recent additions its Board of Directors. Dr. Tracy Schroepfor, Camille Hogan, and Jill Machut will be joining existing board members Joseph W. Boucher, founding partner of the Neider & Boucher law firm, and CEO Kevin Dwyer.
Dr. Tracy Schroepfer is an Associate Professor at the UW-Madison School of Social Work. She relocated to Madison in 2003 after completing her Ph.D. in Social Work and Sociology at the University of Michigan, which she considers one of her proudest accomplishments.
“I have been teaching for 30 years” she said. “It was my love for social work and seeing other first generation students, like myself, develop in the classroom that lead me to academics in this field.”
In addition to her passion for social work and teaching, Dr. Schroepfer also takes a particular interest in the elderly.
“I have a special respect for elders in our community and I find partnering with them fascinating and rewarding” she said. Dr. Schroepfer also expressed concern in the disparity in access to healthcare among elders due to structural, social, and economic determinants of health.
“Health concerns should be viewed not only medically but also holistically, as it is important to look at the whole person, including their emotional, spiritual, social and cultural dimensions. HealthConnect.Link is a much-needed tool in delivering up-to-date knowledge in all these areas to those who need it. Being able to look up resources and having the certainty that they will be up to date is critical to healthcare professionals. Social workers making resource referrals in the field will highly value having this tool available to them." said Dr. Schroepfer.
In addition to serving on the HealthConnect.Link Board, Dr. Schroepfer is also the current president of the National Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work and a board member on the National Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network.
Camille Hogan is currently a Senior Accountant at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. She enjoys working in the healthcare industry because it serves as a motivator to expand her knowledge and she also finds it very rewarding.
“My career has evolved. Initially, I was an office manager for a small chiropractic clinic where I gained experience in medical billing. From there I was at a CPA firm which specialized in working with medical professionals. Later, I landed at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. I guess in a way Healthcare found me.” She said. Ms Hogan is also working to continue her education, “Working for an academic institution, education is highly valued. An MBA in Health Systems Leadership will help give me a deeper understanding of every aspect of Healthcare.”
As a director on the HealthConnect.Link Board she feels inspired by the project because it has the potential to change the lives for so many people in need. Aside from her work life, Camille also has four children. It was her children that lead her to get involved in other charitable organizations and activities such as the PTA, youth sports, and other events to aid underprivileged members in the community.
Jill Machut is a UW- Madison graduate, having earned a Masters in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology in 2006. She is currently the Director of Physician Engagement at Physician Technology Partners, a company that specializes in electronic medical record (EMR) management and optimization. She has previously worked for Epic, the well-known Madison based EMR software firm.
“After working at Epic, I completed a masters in biotechnology which included biotechnology science, business of healthcare, regulations/ethics, and project management. The masters degree didn’t relate specifically to heathcare IT but it gave me a broader perspective of why healthcare works the way it does, from a business perspective.” said Ms Machut.
In addition to her extensive experience working with healthcare technology Ms Machut brings with her an extensive national network of hospital medical and administrative colleagues.
Ms Machut’s also enjoys volunteering with the Optimist Club of Milwaukee, working fundraising events at Alpine Valley during music festivals in summer, traveling, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
