Madison, July 7, 2017 – HealthConnect.Link, a Madison-based non-profit venture, has continued to attract additional community partners aligned in their mission to improve access to needed healthcare and community service resources. Recent additions include FamilyPath Autism Services, The Family Center, and ARC Community Services.
The Family Center is a community-based, affordable, state certified outpatient mental health clinic and the training center for Edgewood College's Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate Program. Since 2000, The Family Center has provided psychotherapy services to infants, children, teens, individuals, couples, and families within South Central Wisconsin. The Family Center believes in respecting and supporting diversity and seeks to provide services to all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religious background. Individual and group counseling and urgent care are available at their clinic.
In regard to partnering with HealthConnect.Link, Clinic Director Judi Culver, MA.LPC, LMFT stated, “Although Dane County has a plethora of resources, it's still not enough and so many of the available resources are ‘invisible’ meaning people are not aware of them. In order to get services, often times those who fall in the vulnerable population category are frequently passed from one agency to another via phone, they are given misinformation or no information, they are put on unreasonable waiting lists or they will often forego medical or mental health treatment that is needed because giving up is easier, less shameful and less overwhelming. HealthConnect.Link will provide a way to compile area resources in one spot, allowing people to see what they can access and where and get the specialized help they require.”
Judi also noted, “The Family Center is so excited about participating in HealthConnect.Link’s pilot program! As a community-based, state certified mental health clinic, our mission is to support the growth, transformation, and overall wellness of our clients, staff and the community within which we serve. For us, those aren't just words, providing affordable (truly), high quality, mental health services is what we do and our partnering with HealthConnect.Link is such a positive way to continue to do that.”
ARC Community Services provides innovative inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment for women offenders and their children/families. ARC's program is designed to empower women to make responsible and healthy life choices. It focuses on addressing a woman’s recovery within the context of her relationship with her children. ARC specializes in the development and implementation of programming based on current research and best practices and in response to the special needs of women at risk for criminal activity and/or substance abuse on a residential, day treatment and outpatient basis in Dane County, Fond du Lac County, and the State of Wisconsin.
Norman Briggs, Director of Addiction Treatment Services for ARC, stated “Our outreach program has convinced us that we need to constantly present our programs and services to various agencies. Even those who may have been referring people to us for years. Staff turnover in those agencies means re-educating folks about ARC every year or so. This is extremely time-consuming for staff. With HealthConnect.Link as a tool for referring agents, we'll automatically be right before their eyes when looking for the types of services we provide. ARC prides itself on being early adopters of cutting edge therapies and state-of-the-art programming. Partnering with the HealthConnect.Link is consistent with that philosophy.”
